19th Century French Louis XV Walnut Marble Top Console
About the Item
19th Century French Louis XV Walnut Marble Top Console features timeless elegance with its definitive naturalistic form expressed in the graceful cabriole legs, bombe apron form with serpentine sides, and hand-carved shell and foliate embellishment for a true visual treat. Topped with contoured and beveled marble exhibiting white, gray and rouge tones, it is perfect for cozy entrances, hallways, stairwell landings or niches. Architectural historians agree the concept was an extension of the window sill, allowing additional surface area to enjoy the light. As it evolved over the centuries, it became a useful and decorative furnishing that could be mounted to a wide variety of vertical surfaces all over the home.
