20th Century Italian Demi-Lune Neoclassical Marble Console Table by Paolo Buffa

About the Item

A single, vintage Mid-Century modern Italian console table with a small drawer, made of hand crafted ebonized Walnut designed by Paolo Buffa, in good condition. The freestanding Neoclassical demi-lune end table is composed with a Breacia Primavera marble top which is enhanced by two red natural veins. The slim table is standing on four saber shaped wooden legs, supported by an arched stretcher, each leg is particularized by polished brass décor. Minor fading, scratches due to age. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1940 - 1950, Milan, Italy. Paolo Buffa was born in 1903, in Milan, Italy and passed away in 1970. He was an Italian architect and designer. Before Buffa studied at the Polytechnic Institute in Milan, he worked for the Italian architect and designer Gio Ponti. He established his own company with collaborator Antonio Cassi Ramello. Before Buffa passed away, he had been named one of the most important designers in Italy.
