About the Item
Large Italian 19th century console, beautiful and stately Italian antique console table from the mid-19th century. Constructed with burl veneer, and ebonized accents. Hand painted vignettes of classically inspired images decorate all parts of this console, including a pair of chimera on the base, decorative vines on the legs and sides, and a scene of a goddess (possibly Athena) and two angels bestowing gifts upon a man with books, a globe, and a telescope (possibly a writer, or a merchant). Measures: c.1850, 40 1/4" H x 61" W x 22 3/4" D.
