Large Italian Modern Neoclassical Carved Wood & Glass Console, Attr to G. Ulrich
About the Item
A Rare and Exquisite Italian Midcentury console or writing table attributed to Guglielmo Ulrich, circa 1940-1950 uniting Modern, Neoclassical and Art Deco sensibilities. The console is of exceptional size, form and lines that pleases the eye; and it's open space and transparency allows the piece to breathe and for the viewer to dream. The piece is set on four sumptuous tapering dark wood legs united by a sensuous curving stretcher. Thick glass is inset into the frame with center panel being hand gilt. The glass sleekly fits the curving back of the frame and is angled inward in the front. A drawer with a gilt bronze handle is situated underneath the gilt glass. In total, this is a beautiful work of architecture and art that is also multi-functional.
