Pair of French 19th Century Neo-Classical St. Mahogany and Ormolu Consoles
About the Item
An exceptional and impressive pair of French 19th century Neo-Classical st. Mahogany and ormolu consoles. Each freestanding mirrored console is raised by an elegant bottom tier with four striking circular fluted columns with reeded plinths and powerful ionic capitals. At the back are the original mirrored backplates set at an angle creating a superb effect and unique reflection. The apron displays five stunning ormolu reserves of a beautiful intricately detailed lyre, quiver, and bow amidst berried laurel branches and impressive cornucopias with a laurel wreath and scrolled movements each framed within a delicate ormolu band with a fine palmette design. The tops display a fine French polished finish showcasing the beautiful warm wood grain.
