About the Item
A wonderful and most impressive pair of Italian 19th century Empire st. Vert de Patricia marble, Patinated Wood and Giltwood consoles. Each wonderful freestanding console is raised by two front 'S' scrolled caryatid legs displaying lion's head top capitals, mottled Giltwood bands around the shaft, and scrolling acanthus leaf plinths. The two rectangular back legs contain fluted designs and mottled Giltwood bands. All four legs are supported on two rectangular patinated bases with mottled Giltwood upper edges. The front and side aprons are beautifully decorated with a Coeur-de-Rai band and symmetrical foliate mounts centered by a carved rosette above. An uninterrupted egg and dart Giltwood band located above each mount supports the attracting marble top. The original Vert de Patricia marble tops follow the shape of each console with rounded front corners.
