Pair of Italian Mid-19th Century Empire Style Mahogany Consoles from Naples
About the Item
A sensational pair of Italian mid 19th century Empire st. freestanding flamed mahogany consoles from Naples, Italy. The consoles are raised by double mottled rectangular bases with brass edges. Each flamed mahogany console is supported by patinated and giltwood maidens in classical dress at the front and Romanesque columns with brass borders at the back. Each unique frieze is elegantly decorated by five different Wedgewood plaques, one above each maiden and a central recessed rectangular plaque depicting richly detailed Roman scenes. Above, are the Vert Maurin marble tops fitted within a mahogany border. All original warm and rich patina throughout.
