Atelier Viollet
Atelier Viollet is a furniture and interiors fabrication workshop based in Brooklyn, NY. Founded by Jean-Paul Viollet in the 1980's, Atelier Viollet's mission has always been to merge traditional techniques with an innovative design and use of materials. Jean-Paul descends from a long line of carpenters and woodworkers, learning the trade from his father, grandfather and uncles in his hometown in the French Alps. Eventually moving to New York, he soon established the atelier. Inspired by the Art Deco masters such as Frank, Ruhlmann, and Printz, Viollet expanded his focus from wood and wood veneers to eventually include various materials and techniques, striving for the same bespoke sophistication as his predecessors. Today, the workshop fabricates both furniture and interior panelling primarily for private residential projects. The Atelier Viollet repertoire includes wood veneers, parchment, shagreen, straw marquetry, gypsum, mica, horn, and lacquer. Despite the substantial portfolio, we are continuously looking to expand upon our savior faire through creative experimentation. Each piece in our collection is a testament to this philosophy.
