18th Century Sheraton Satinwood 'Bonheur du Jour'

About the Item

An unusual late 18th century satinwood 'Bonheur du Jour,' boxwood and ebony line inlaid throughout, having fiddle-back mahogany bow paneled doors with central drawer and recess, above satinwood banded and fiddle-back mahogany secretaire drawer with further opening below. The piece having rosewood paneled sides, supported on square tapering legs.

This impressive antique French secretary features a chapeau de gendarme crown above a pair of carved serpentine doors with brass mesh grilles and beautiful green and gold damask fabric backings that open to reveal a painted interior with two display shelves. Three carved drawers are below.
