Early 20th Century Complete Partners Suite by Heaton Tabb & Co.

About the Item

Featuring a highly important piece from circa 1930. This is a fully complete Partners Suite. All matching pieces from the same office suite. We call it the 'Titanic' Suite and for a good reason ! Ever wondered what the furniture was like on Titanic, well, look no further! All made of the highest quality by Heaton Tabb & Co. of Liverpool, England. It is fully labeled. Included in the Suite are: Large Partner’s Desk, Large Side Table, Filing Cabinet and Trash Bin. All pieces are made of gorgeous carved walnut with butterflied walnut veneer. Heaton Tabb & Co. were high quality furniture manufacturers based in Liverpool. Previously the Company was simply known as A.Heaton & Co. Their furniture was so well regarded that Harland & Wolff, shipbuilders in Belfast, who built the Oceanic, Olympic and the Titanic and the White Star Line, decided to use the Company to decorate the Oceanic, Olympic and the Titanic. So much so, that Heaton & Co. had an office in Harland & Wolff's shipyard in Belfast so that they could be on site while Titanic was being constructed. The relationship between the two progressed over the next 20 years and Harland & Wolff decided to buy the Company in or around 1930 in order that the Company could be the SOLE manufacturers of their furniture. It then became known as Heaton Tabb & Co. This suite was the personal office suite of the CEO of Woolworth's British office, also in Liverpool. This is your chance to own something that has historical significance and a connection to the famous Titanic. Heaton Tabb & Co pieces from this era are extremely rare and this piece is of the highest quality. Pictures of the furniture on Olympic (made by Heaton Tabb) show the quality that was used in all their furniture. This is one for Titanic Collectors, Harland & Wolff collectors, White Star Line collectors, Woolworth's Collectors and Furniture collectors OR simply someone who loves history and quality in their home or office! We can safely say that it is the most complete and best office suite we have ever seen, other dealers have said the same !! Condition: The side table needs some professional restoration due to some cracking of the veneer. But not a major job. The Partners desk has a circular hole cut into the top and drawer underneath, for the running of monitor cables to a PC that can be stored in the front right pedestal.Some holes have likewise been drilled on the inside of the pedestal base to allow air to circulate so that a PC does not overheat. There is one hole at the base for electric cable to PC. Whist these works do change the originality of the desk, they most certainly make the desk more functional and more practical for modern living. What point is there owning a Suite like this if you are not going to use it daily??? Price reduced to reflect cost of restoration.
