Fine Antique American Chippendale Slant Front Desk
About the Item
A beautifully crafted late 18th Century Slant Front Desk with dovetailed top and drawers, fine graining, great color and solid traditional form. The Desk has the original brass batwing pulls and escutcheons (Lacking Key), pull-out slide supports with simple brass button pulls and decorative column carved corners all resting on finely carved foot. The breadboard slant cover has a sliding oval brass keyhole cover and opens to an array of brass knobbed drawers, cubbies, two pull out secret column drawers an a central Shell carved cubby door opening to two more cubbies over two small drawers.
Dimensions: 43.5” wide by 22” deep by 43” high.
Condition: Please see detail photos. Various signs of age include old scratches, stable age crack to both left and right sides, chips and wear to the drop-down panel edges with a slight top corner loss. Missing two inside drawer pulls. All of the aforementioned is for accuracy as a later professional polish has ameliorated much of the wear and the desk presents in a particularly fine manner.
