About the Item

French late 19th century mahogany center table or library table with two gorgeous fret-carved pedestals on each side recalling Gothic architectural motifs in a cathedral. The simple plank top is a blank canvas for display or studying, as intended, glowing with a soft amber-hue from light grain patterns. Two thick pedestals support the top with lovely scrolled edges and a pierced, geometric design which narrows at the stretcher parallel to the floor. Two pairs of wide feet carved with a fluted texture balance the thickness of the stretcher to end in upturned scrolls giving it a sense of lightness and movement; pleasing to the eye from every angle. Cleaned, tightened, and polished with a French paste wax this unique table is ready to join your interior as an unexpected desk or small dining table.
