An Impressive Mid-Century Modern Semi circular Desk, 1970s

About the Item

A teak desk of boomerang form, large and stately size. The twin pedestal featuring beautiful brass handles that are in the form of Sanskrit Seal. These feature animals. The drawers open on the angle and the bottom drawer pulls out and is fitted for files/seperating papers. The front of the pedestal feature a wonderfully crafted deep carved honeycomb design. What is interesting for this piece is that we still have the blueprints for the desk, the original paperwork telling us that the desk was made. It was made for a J.R. Godfrey, They worked for the Tarbela Dam Project in the Hazara District in West Pakistan. The date on the blueprint is 27.2.72. The desk is designed in the European taste, very much of the taste of the period. We know that the workforce comes from Gb, Italy and France, so I assume these tastes informed the design.
