Italian Mid 19th Century Venetian St. Patinated And Giltwood Desk

About the Item

A spectacular and extremely unique Italian mid 19th century Venetian st. patinated and giltwood desk. The most decorative seven drawer desk is raised by eight elegant luxuriously curved tapered legs with finely carved giltwood acanthus leaves and charming blooming flowers. At each side are three drawers centering a single drawer all decorated with beautiful luxuriant scrolled foliate movements and interlocking designs with a foliate keyhole escutcheon. The sides display stunning wonderfully executed and extremely decorative floral garlands centering on an impressive scrolled reeded central reserve. The back displays seven faux drawers repeating the design at the front while the center of the desk is also finished at the inside with additional lovely floral designs and a recessed panel. Above is a most elegant gold tooled fitted leather writing surface. All original gilt, patina, and hardware throughout.
