About the Item
A scarce antique American Renaissance Revival style carved walnut extension table by Seng, Chicago, Illinois. circa 1920/1930
Born in the United States in the early 20th century, featuring a rare and unusual form and extension mechanism. Slightly lift the rectangular top and the slide the mechanical horizontal draw-leaf style extensions to expand the the width of the top, morphing the library table / sofa console into a kitchen table / dining table.
Having a bookmatched burl wood, oak and walnut banded, parquetry inlay top, molded apron with dovetailed frieze drawer, rising on turned urn baluster-form standards, over shaped stretcher joined trestle base with twist ornamentation, resting on bun feet, signed, stamp to frame under top.

Important auction house J. Garrett Auctioneers, Dallas, Texas, May 2021 catalog, presented a special curated collection from John Phifer Marrs, premier Southern interior designer known for an elegant, fresh and inviting design method, often called The New Southern Style.
John's work has been regularly featured in local and national publications including the venerable Architectural Digest, Traditional Home, and many others. He recently released his new book, Interiors for Collectors, and stays busy with both design work and author appearances.
Condition:
Good original antique / vintage condition. Strong, sturdy, stable, and structurally sound, it presents well, with nicely aged patina over the whole, age appropriate wear including light surface scratches and losses, all commensurate with age and use, adding to the rich antique character, charm and elegant warmth.

A rustically elegant country French Provincial farm house harvest work table with warm rich patina and refined Rococo styling. circa 1750
Hand-crafted in the mid-18th century, most likely originating in the former Provence / Nice / Alps region of the South of France, a beautiful area near the Italian border and Mediterranean sea. Hand carved of solid fruitwood, executed in period Louis XV taste (1715-1774) with sophisticated Rocaille elements.
Featuring a long narrow rectangular five plank boarded top with pleated end, attractive dark rustic patina and desirable overhang; above a simple tall apron with curvacious hand sculpted scalloped edge, rising on elegant cabriole legs.

An early European oak pay table with beautiful, rich, rustic, elegantly aged patina.
Born in Switzerland in the 18th century, likely in the Swiss Alps near the French border, hand-crafted of high-quality solid oak, the Baroque period table is in exceptional shape, very strong and sturdy, excellent craftsmanship, quality and detailing throughout.
Having a rectangular two board top with banded inlay, above a single large frieze drawer, retaining the original forged iron handle, the sides accented with wooden pegged mortise through-tenoned joinery that allows the tabletop to lift off the base quickly, the pegs over a shaped apron with heart form cutout and carved scalloped edge ornamentation, rising on four hand turned splayed baluster-form tapered legs joined by a plank box stretcher, ending in ball feet.
