William IV 19th century shaped davenport desk

About the Item

William IV 19th century shaped davenport desk circa 1830. We are pleased to offer this William IV period palisander davenport desk.  Unusual shape from the normal with it's ogee shaped sides. This piece offers four lockable drawers to the right hand side which embrace the ogee shaping and a pul out brushing side to the left hand side, further more, above the drawers is a concealed pull out stationary drawer, complete with pen tray and original ink bottles.  Top surface pulls forward to allow the space to sit at the leather writing surface.  Hinged lid opens to reveal further storage space and 4 drawers in the same manner as the exterior, 2 of which are dummy drawers. Top surface finished with a moulded gallery.  Working tasselled key and original lock.  Raised on 4 concealed brass castors. Later leather to writing surfaces. Minor age splits to front and back panel and to bottom of writing surface. Excellent colour and original patina.
