Grand Federal / Hepplewhite Ribbon Mahogany Three-Part Dining Table, 1800s

About the Item

For your consideration is this Grand Federal / Hepplewhite Ribbon Mahogany Three-Part Dining Table dating from the early 1800s. This table of extraordinary width uses double hung leaves to its fullest length to create its size. The heavy leaves are all of dense Santo Domingo mahogany, the ribbon grain vividly contrasts each leaf. The apron is of flame mahogany and the legs are of Sheraton style fine carvings on solid mahogany. The 2 end parts can be used to create a large dining table of 85" wide. The center part can create a full side dining table of 58" wide by extending its two drop leaves and uses its 6 legs. Each end part can be used to create grand console table of 47" wide and 21.5" in depth. Each end part comes with 4 legs and a swinging leg that supports the open leaf. The table altogether has 16 legs, all intricately carved and on original wheels on brass end-caps. The table very comfortably seats 16 people on large dining chairs. The table is in good condition with some age patinas and some minor scratches and losses from normal use. We have uploaded detailed pictures of each of the 3 parts for a better view. This one of the finest tables we have handled and it must have graced an important dining room. The overall dimensions are 143"W x 47"D x 29"H. W3LL053122.
