'M' Table - George Nakashima inspired Ash Trestle Table
Located in Norwich, GB
A traditional trestle table design, influenced by Shaker aesthetics and the great Japanese American furniture maker, George Nakashima. It is held together with four ash pegs and two wedges in fumed oak and can be taken apart and put back together with minimal tools, for ease of storage and assembly. The tabletop features "repairs" from small patches of timber similar in colour and tone which cover knots, and cracks whilst at the same time, reference repairs that are seen on antique tables. These are influenced in their decorative style by Japanese boro textile repairs and symbolise use, repair and repair again as opposed to simply disposing of the table and replacing it with a new one once it shows signs of use. The bases are made from straight grain Ash. 'M' is an abbreviation of the old Norse name for the sacred Ash tree that holds up the world; Mimameidr, also known as Yggdrasil the tree of life. Our Ash trees here in England are afflicted by a disease, Ash Dieback and many are already dead, many more get felled to try to contain the disease. This new series of tables celebrates our ash trees and perpetuates their ancient place in our culture. Whilst we cannot guarantee that the Ash timber we use is actually from a tree felled...

Committee Table by Pierre Jeanneret and Le Corbusier LC/PJ-TAT-14-A
Located in Toronto, Ontario
A truly special example of iconic mid twentieth century design. A rare work by two titans of design at their peak of creativity and execution. This "committee" dining, or library table was created in very small numbers and for special and specific installations. With intersecting "horn" leg supports and linked together with lateral support struts, this table is a masterpiece of simplicity and minimalist design. An historic, correct, authentic, and import piece of design history. Condition is very good and has been sympathetically restored to be useful on a daily basis. The legs are solid teak as are the struts and supporting lateral; beams to hold the table in place. The table top retains its original side rails and the hand painted lettering designation is intact. The table top has seen much use but is beautiful with its rich patina. The top itself has the proper teak veneer which has some scratching and marking. Also some areas are sanded through to the surface below. This can be left as is or can be re-veneered at the buyers request. Overall just a terrific example of an iconic design. East Coast buyers can receive hand delivered shipping. West coast of overseas can be crated and shipped door...

Hot Air Balloon Gondola Pub Bar Dining Table Rattan Basket Hand Painted Map
Located in Dayton, OH
"Vintage Hot Air balloon pub dining table deisgned by Dennis Deis, painted by Richard Mantia, and inspired by the book Around the World in 80 days, a novel by Jules Verne. This collaboration was born to raise funds for the AIDS fundraiser at the Masonic Temple in Dayton Ohio circa 1980s. The base or gondola was made by Cameron, and frequently used by Dennis during his flights before being retired and used for this installation art. The decorated gondola base supports a hand painted table top showing a colorful birdseye continental map view. At the center is handmade lamp fashioned to look like the burner of a hot air balloon. The round ceiling canopy features a red and gold candy cane exterior and mirrored interior allowing for a unique reflection off of the lantern below. Between the canopy and table surface is a fun rope and pulley design offering added dimension. The table can sit four to five stools comfortable. Dennis Deis Bio: Dennis George John Deis, b 1942 - 2012 was a loving, dedicated, trustworthy, and fun-loving family man and friend. At 70 years old, he had lived a rich, albeit too short life. He was born on May 29th, 1942, in his parents' home in Kettering's Greenmont Village. He started his adventures outside of Greenmont at 18, when he enlisted in the Navy. He served from March 28, 1960 to May 28, 1963. When he returned, he married Joyce Breckler and started working for Ohio Bell as a phone installer. After 27 years, he retired as a PBX installer for AT&T. He started a second career as a hot air balloon pilot and entrepreneur of Rainbow's End balloon flights. He was frequently seen flying over the Dayton area in the rainbow-colored Houser Asphalt balloon. Ballooning took him on adventures in Michigan, Iowa, New Mexico, Arizona, and Europe. He flew over European castles and great scenic views for Buddy Bombard. Over 10,000 Daytonians shared a balloon basket...

Located in New York, NY
"T14C" dining table with "D08" extensions by Pierre Chapo (1927-1986), circa 1964, in elm wood. Great original condition, beautiful vintage patina. Measures: Table: 28.74 H x 72.05 W x 33.86 D inches 73 H x 183 W x 86 D cm Extensions: 15.35 x 33.86 inches 39 x 86 cm The S 14 bench is a versatile piece in the Chapo nomenclature. Initially planned as a seat for the large T 14 table, the S 14 bench borrows its base and pillar legs from the T 14 and its robust look from the S 01 stool. Pierre Chapo (1927-1987) Pierre Chapo was first interested in painting, but his encounter with a shipbuilding carpenter in 1947, introduced him to wood and woodworking, and led to architectural studies at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. After traveling through Scandinavia, Central America and working for a year in the United States, he returned to Paris and pursued his interest in wood, crafting furniture...
