About the Item

A rare and exceptional library table (Model PJ-TAT-08-A) designed by Pierre Jeanneret in 1955–56 as part of the original Chandigarh furniture programme under the masterplan of Le Corbusier. Constructed in solid teak and teak veneer, this monumental table features Jeanneret’s signature minimalist lines and robust architectural presence. Its generous proportions make it an impressive dining table or centerpiece for a library, office, or study. Markings and Provenance: The table bears its original institutional marking: P.G.I / ADM BLOCK / 90 / III, indicating allocation to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, specifically the Administrative Block. The marking confirms its authenticity while situating it firmly within Jeanneret’s Chandigarh programme. The table retains its original character, with signs of age and use consistent with institutional history. It will be lightly restored (see an example in the last image) allowing the natural patina and craftsmanship to speak to its history and provenance. We welcome all enquiries and ship worldwide.
