About the Item

Outstanding extendable table designed by Vittorio Introini and manufactured by Saporiti in 1960s. In very good condition. The table has been recently stripped and refinished to bring the wood back to its original finish. Dimensions: closed 120 x 78 - open 165.5 x 120 x 78 Lacquered wood, brass. While this is a perfect table for a smaller dining area it can easily function as a striking center table in a foyer or retail environment. Vittorio Introini & Saporiti Italia: Passionate architect and designer, Vittorio Introini began his design activity in the 1960s. The charge of innovation and change given by his cultural background can also be relived in his furnishings. His language combines several factors: innovation in the use of traditional materials and the juxtaposition of the linear and geometric forms. The Chelsea Table is a prime example of Introini's design ethic. His exploration towards a more international and avant-garde style that found an excellent partner in the Saporiti company. Since 1950, Saporiti Italia produces some of the most sophisticated and advanced pieces of furniture of the history of Italian design. Each item created and constructed by the company is slightly ahead of its time and it is destined to last, both in form and function, long into next the future. The company, founded in 1950 by Mr. Sergio Saporiti and still under control of the Saporiti family, has contributed to the creation of iconic furnishings in the pantheon of Italian design.
