About the Item

This vintage table is from Cushman Colonial of Bennington, Vermont and features traditional American craftsmanship inspired by early American furniture design. The wood, the craftsmanship and the design, all speak to the high quality and traditional American style that Cushman Colonial furniture became known for. The table was produced in the mid-1950s, but you would hardly know it. It is made of solid maple sawbuck with turned legs and a trestle. The patina is beautiful and a hallmark of one of the special Cushman lacquer and wax finishes. This piece does not have any leaves. The rectangular top has a molded edge and breadboard ends, raised on a turned X-frame base. The Cushman pressed metal manufacturer's tag is visible underneath. This piece is reflective of and inspired by the Colonial Revival movement of the late 1800s. The company produced furniture in maple, birch and oak and operated for more than 100 years from its Bennington, Vermont location. A wonderful legacy piece.

The beautiful details make this 19th century occasional table a standout. The design is 360 degrees with stylized touches from every angle, allowing for more design options. The rectangular top with molded edge over a corresponding frame fitted with a single molded long drawer, is raised on ring-turned legs, joined by a shelf stretcher. One of the planks in the stretcher is loose and will be tightened. This is a surprisingly sturdy and solid piece with nice design features.
