"Attributed To Gillows." This fine quality, charming little table follows a widely recognised design pattern which features in the Gillows Estimate Sketch Books for 16 July 1822, which refer to a "double round cornered top" and then appear again several times throughout the 1820's and 1830's. The designs are often referred to as "Flower Stands", or "Flower Tables" and there are various different itinerations to be found throuout the Regency and William IV periods. Constructed from charming, warm, rich oak veneers this little table is a great example. The carving is crisp and well executed and it retains a good colour and patina. It also remains in excellent condition and has clearly been well loved and well looked after throughout its history. The dimensions are great. Big enough to be practical and functional, but small enough to go just about anywhere around the home and serve a purpose as an antique lamp table, antique bedside table, antique wine table antique...
