A Fine Occasional Table By Henry Dasson Of rectangular form, constructed in mahogany dressed with finely cast and chased gilt bronze mounts; rising from ormolu mounted toupie feet, supporting the lower platform set with a brocatelle d'Espagne marble, the fluted and tapering legs having square form ormolu bases, with octagonal ormolu capitols; the lockable drawer centred by an ormolu shield escutcheon issuing foliate branches, the top set with a brocatelle d'Espagne marble within a three-quarter gilt bronze pierced gallery of running heart motif. Signed and dated 'Henry Dasson 1881.' French, dated 1881 Dimensions: H: 30.5 in / 77 cm W: 20 in / 51 cm D: 15 in / 37.5 cm Henry Dasson (1825-1896) Henry Dasson was a celebrated furniture maker of the second half of 19th century who specialised in making ormolu (gilt bronze) mounts. His work was mainly inspired by the art of the period of Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI style, adapting them to conform with the needs of the times. In 1871 he bought the company of Charles-Guillaume Winckelsen at 106, rue Vieille-du-Temple. Dasson exhibited at international exhibitions including Paris in 1878 where he was lauded by Louis Gonse, art critic and Director of the Gazette des Beaux-Arts, for the perfection of his work. Dasson won the Grand Prix Artistique and Légion d'honneur for his work.

A stunning and extremely high quality French 19th century Louis XVI style mahogany, ormolu and vert campan marble side/center table, after a model by Adam Weisweiler and attributed to Henry Dasson. The table is raised by fine topie shaped feet with elegant circular tapered supports. Each leg displays a unique square tapered shape with a carved recessed design and elegant foliate ormolu movements which encase the leg.
