About the Item

A most elegant pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Mahogany, Tulipwood, Kingwood and Ormolu side tables. Each beautiful side table is raised on four round, slender, tapered, and fluted legs supported on topie shaped Ormolu sabots. The four legs are connected by a circular display tier with a fine Ormolu gallery and Tulipwood marquetry, and parquetry containing foliate decorations in the center. At the top of each leg is a round mottled Ormolu top cap below protruding rectangular Mahogany blocks with berried foliate Ormolu ornaments and tied flowing ribbons at the peak. The four straight aprons between each leg are decorated by a fine mottled Ormolu band below a smooth Mahogany panel. The top is designed with a shallow reeded circular Ormolu gallery while the center is decorated similarly to the display tier with its Tulipwood marquetry and parquetry of foliate designs.
