About the Item

French tilt-top 'table de vendange,' or wine-tasting table circa 1870-1910. Large round top, covered in original canvas, circled by bentwood edge. Oak carved trestle base with lyre-shape harp mechanism. All hand-carved. Naturally semi-bleached mid-brown finish. Tilt-top fully functional and can be stored tilted upright for storage. Serves as a large side or end table, or as a dining table for breakfast or intimate dinners, both indoors and al fresco.

  • Condition:
    Repaired: Jointed tightened and all is sturdy and stable. Tears in early fabric cover to top, but its patina and texture is too attractive to remove it. It can be permanently removed however, and reveal the wood beneath. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor fading. Finish faded and semi-bleached to an inconsistent mid-brown color through natural sun exposure. Beautiful original canvas top with rich patina and losses and fading (see images).
