Late 19th Century French Louis XIII Style Oak Side Table, Barley Twist Columns

About the Item

This late nineteenth century French Louis XIII style side table or nightstand features four barley twist columns. Its beveled top is detailed with a hand carved leaf motif. Rosettes adorn the die joints on the front and flank a central dovetailed drawer detailed with scrolling leaves and appointed with a bronze drop ring drawer pull. Two lower shelves join the legs providing stability as well as additional display space. The table rests on a hand carved skirt on bun feet. Finished on all sides, this piece may be placed beside a chair in the middle of a room or can be quietly appreciated in a bedroom as a nightstand. c. 1880.
