Round glass and metal table T69 by Osvaldo Borsani Eugenio Gerli for Tecno 60s

About the Item

The series of tables T69 and T102, born in 1963 from the fruitful collaboration between Osvaldo Borsani and Eugenio Gerli, take up in their shapes some characteristic signs typical of Tecno production. The intensive use of aluminum casting techniques, the combination of glossy finishes on the external surface and matt black in the structural part, the rigorous, elegant and essential design. The T69 table is suitable for use both in domestic environments and in refined executive offices. The table is produced with a 130 cm diameter round top in wood. The support structure consists of a central base in cast aluminum with a finishing profile in satin stainless steel on the outer surface. Tecno spa, founded in 1953 by Osvaldo and Fulgenzio Borsani, is an industrial company with production centers in Italy and abroad, which can count on the support of an international network of branches and resellers. The Tecno brand identifies a company that still possesses the initial enthusiasm for engineering and technological innovation and that continues to consider essential the quality of design, materials and craftsmanship, thus allowing its products to overcome the challenges imposed from the future

Sergio Mazza is an Italian designer born in 1931 in Milan. In 1955 he began his free profession and since 1961 he has been working alongside G. Gramigna in the Smc studio, working in the furniture and industrial design fields. Among the various acknowledgments and prizes received, we recall the mention at the Compasso d'Oro 1960 for the Delta lamp by Artemide and the silver medal for the Italian apartment at the X Triennale in Milan. From 1967 he also began to design for Olivari, signing the Macco handles, up to the Giuliana model, with Gramigna, in 1987. In the publishing field, again with Gramigna, he directed the "Ottagono" magazine from its foundation until 1988. Artemide is a company specialized in the production of lighting accessories (lamps, chandeliers, light points), founded by Ernesto Gismondi and Sergio Mazza in 1959. The brand has been characterized since the beginning by a great attention to the design that has allowed over the years to win numerous international awards for its products. Among the most prestigious names in Italian design, Artemide is also one of the world's leading companies in high-end residential and professional lighting. Already in 1967 he received his first prize the prestigious Compasso d'Oro for the Eclisse lamp, designed by Vico Magistretti. This award is followed by many others, nationally and internationally, making Artemide one of the symbolic companies in the design lamp sector. In 1996 Artemide made its own a new manifesto, in which it still identifies itself today: with the motto "The Human Light...
