Pair of Mid-Century Raymond Loewy Inspired Yellow Green Chapter One Nightstands
Located in Chattanooga, TN
Lemon and lime til the end of time!! Broyhill’s Chapter One Collection is officially harder to find and more sought after than the Raymond Loewy orginals. With all due respect to Raymond Loewy, there really is something magical about the Chapter One line. Maybe they’re just more fun and approachable. Maybe it’s the proportions and practicality. Regardless, they’re one of our favourite collections of all time. The restoration team pulled no punches on these nightstands, and the end result exceeded our expectations. Every inch of the wood bodies and bases were professionally sanded, primed and painted to match the original bright gloss white. The laminate top and colored molded plastic drawer fronts were finally buffed and polished to a glassy shine. It’s tough to see these go, but we know they will be loved. Broyhill’s Chapter one collection borrowed from the plastic mold injection designs made famous by legendary designer Raymond Loewy. Like Loewy, these Chapter One bedside tables employ the futuristic use of color and materials in a way that had not been seen before. The bright green and yellow plastic captures the playful spirit of the 1970s. Each cabinet is supported by a white lacquered, curved plinth base that compliments the overall form of the nightstands. Two wide drawers roll-out on metal glides that have been adjusted and oiled to allow for easy functionality, and proper spacing. These colorful, curvaceous commodes could have blended in nicely on the set of 2001 A Space Odyssey. The space-age look has never been more desirable, which may help explain the recent scarcity of all things Chapter One.
We also have matching pieces including two yellow low dressers, yellow record cabinet, and a yellow gentlemen’s chest. Our collection also includes green Chapter One tall and low dressers and white mirrors that are not yet listed. Inquire if you are interested in any of the other pieces we have in stock.
Chapter One green nightstands original catalog description:
Broyhill’s Chapter One is the beginning of a new era in furniture design and technology. It emphasizes the use of new materials, new shapes and new finish concepts. Chapter One uses plastic for design as well as durability. The fronts are of “Cycolac” polymer, the tops are of newly developed Pionite high gloss laminate, pedestal tulip bases of spun steel. Curved wood areas of select tupelo veneers with cabinet hardwoods are the result of advanced woodworking technology. The bright lacquer finish was especially blended for Chapter One. The House & Garden colors are impregnated into the plastic so that the brilliant colors are completely through the Cycolac. All this plus the outstanding Premier features that are standard in Chapter One, make it one of the most outstanding furniture values in today’s modern market.

Pair of Post Modern White and Gun Metal Gray Chrome Nightstands by Lane
Located in Chattanooga, TN
Sleek pair of vintage 1980s Post Modern white nightstands by Lane. Stylish and hearty construction, hallmarks of Lane. These nightstands have white enamel painted wood cases and white laminate (Formica) top surfaces. As you can see, there is a slight patina to the white enamel paint. The body of the nightstands appears a slightly warmer ivory color while the laminate tops are pure white. This subtle patina is due to age. The Nineteen-Laties nightstands exhibit elements of Neo Deco...

ABOUT
Lalique Glass
René Lalique (1860-1945) began his career as a jewellery apprentice at the age of 16, and by 1881 he was a freelance designer for many of the best-known Parisian jewellers. In 1885, he opened his own workshop on Place Gaillon in Paris, the former workshop of Jules Destape. In 1887, Lalique opened a business on Rue du Quatre-Septembre, and registered the "RL" mark the following year. In 1890, he opened a shop in the Opera District of Paris. Within a decade, Lalique was amongst the best-known Parisian jewellers.
In 1905, Lalique opened a new shop at Place Vendôme which exhibited not only jewellery, but glass works as well. It was close to the shop of renowned perfumer François Coty; in 1907, Lalique began producing ornate perfume bottles for Coty. The production of glass objects began at his country villa in 1902, and continued there until at least 1912. The first Lalique glassworks opened in 1909 in a rented facility in Combs-la-Ville, which Lalique later purchased in 1913. In December 1912, Lalique hosted an exhibition of Lalique Glass—as his glass would come to be known—at the Place Vendôme shop. During the First World War, the glassworks produced mundane items in support of the war effort. In 1919, work began on a new production facility in Wingen-sur-Moder, which opened in 1921. From 1925-1931, Lalique produced 29 models of hood ornaments; a mermaid statuette first produced in 1920 was also later sold as a hood ornament. During the 1920s and 1930s, Lalique was amongst the world's most renowned glassmakers.
René Lalique died in 1945. His son Marc Lalique took over the business, operating initially as "M.Lalique" and later as "Cristal Lalique...

Large Raymond Loewy Inspired Yellow Chapter One Gentlemans Chest Armoire
Located in Chattanooga, TN
This model is nearly impossible to find. Moreover, yellow is the most sought after option. Combined with the fact that we've restored this piece to outstanding condition, we're certain you WILL NOT find a more sublime rendition.
Well it’s 2024, and Broyhill’s Chapter One Collection is officially harder to find and more sought after than the Raymond Loewy orginals. With all due respect to Raymond Loewy, there really is something magical about the Chapter One line. Maybe they’re just more fun and approachable. Maybe it’s the proportions and practicality. Regardless, they’re one of our favourite collections of all time. The restoration team pulled no punches on this Chapter One Yellow Highboy Dresser, and the end result exceeded our expectations. Every inch of painted wood (including base) was professionally sanded primed and painted to match the original bright white. The laminate top and canary yellow molded plastic door / drawer fronts were finally buffed and polished to a glassy shine. Unlike the traditional Chapter One Highboy, this "Gentleman's Chest" version is step up in style and function. The open cabinet space on the left features a removable and adjustable height shelf, painted in gloss white of course. The right side has two hinged doors that open to reveal an additional (3) drawers. These also sport the signature white facades, and open / close with ease on the ball-bearing metal tracks. This dresser was built like a tank, but looks like a Lamborghini. It’s tough to see this one go, but we know it will be loved.
Broyhill’s Chapter one collection borrowed from the plastic mold injection designs made famous by legendary designer Raymond Loewy. Like Loewy, these Chapter One Dressers employ the futuristic use of color and materials in a way that had not been seen before. The bright yellow plastic captures the playful spirit of the 1970s. The Gentleman's Chest Cabinet is supported by a lacquered plinth base with rounded corners. This colorful, curvaceous case-good could have blended in nicely on the set of 2001 A Space Odyssey. The space-age look has never been more desirable, which may help explain the recent scarcity of all things Chapter One.

"Princess Badoura" "Royal Doulton Prestige Collection" Porcelain HN2081
Located in Bloomfield Hills, MI
Princess Badoura was the most prestigious and expensive figure ever made by Royal Doulton. It was made to order for wealthy clients for nearly 50 years and a special color version was devised for Harrods of London. In addition, it has 22 carat gold decorations. Three different models are on display in the Fantastique exhibit at Weiner Museum Of Decorative Arts and Princess Badoura is one of the stars of the Celebration of Ceramic Art weekend. The glazes are as rich as luxurious silk and the gold decorations are perfection. It is one of the most sought after in the Princess Badoura productions. This piece was hand-painted.
In the Tales of the Arabian Nights, Badoura is a princess of China and the most beautiful woman ever seen upon the earth. She magically falls in love in her sleep with Prince Camar of Persia thanks to the supernatural antics of two genies, who boast of their rival beauty. In defiance of their families, the young couple steadfastly refuse to marry anyone else until they are reunited after a quest for each other across Arabia. Their dreams come true and the princess travels to her wedding in great splendor on the back of an elephant. This enchanting story was illustrated by Edmund Dulac in 1907 and by George Barbier in 1922.
This spectacular piece was modeled by Harry Stanton as a centerpiece for the Wembley Exhibition in 1924 and joined the Royal Doulton's Prestige Collection in 1952. Our piece was produced in 1983 and signed by the grandson of the founder, Michael Doulton, in 1985. Each figurine required over 160 hours of intricate painting and five kiln firings before the gilders added the final embellishment of 22 carat gold. This is a limited edition of 500.
Royal Doulton is an English ceramic and home accessories manufacturer that was founded in 1815 by John Doulton at Lambeth, London in association with John Watts...
