Art Nouveau Patinated Plaster of Paris Sculpture by Joseph Zomers Belgium
By Joseph Zomers
Located in Prato, Tuscany
We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects.
Statuette of a naked woman sitting in patinated plaster of Paris; plaster of Paris, is a very resistant material, used since ancient times, it was used by the ancient Egyptians as a binder in the construction of the pyramids and is used in sculpture for its strength, the name is linked to the ancient quarries of Montmartre in Paris; the statue is a work of the famous Belgian sculptor and bronze artist Joseph Zomers which he executed between 1915 and 1920 and whose signature is on the pedestal. The woman is represented posing with ill-concealed malice and shows without reticence her body with a thin erotic veil, the artist has not executed the face precisely to accentuate a mysterious charm; it is a figure of harmonic proportions that takes into greater consideration the erotic connotations, however, a refined and elegant eroticism that presents itself in a courteous manner, subtle and suggestive but at the same time provocative and irreverent; the woman, in her most intimate dimension, as a naked presence, defenseless but seductive, becomes the embodiment of the poetic essence of the artist, the emblematic figure of his aesthetics. It is an object in perfect Art Nouveau style (Jugendstil), in fact, many artists of this current used eroticism as their work, portraying women as ethereal and fatal beings, letting themselves be inspired by "le beau sexe" thanks to their naked forms, soft and seductive. Joseph Zomers was born in Liege in Belgium in 1895 and died in 1928; he studied art in Maredsous (Belgium), many of his works are permanently exhibited at the Musèe de Liège; Zomers is well known for his public monument "Tchantchès" in Liege. This great work in stone and bronze is located in the Otremeuse district in Rue Pont-Saint-Nicolas; designed by Joseph Zomers, the statue represents a "hiercheuse", the name was given to the women who pulled the carts in the mine, a tribute to those valiant young people vilified and victims of the exploitation of women's labor, the woman holds aloft the puppet of Tchantchès. Tchantchès is the name given to a puppet that appeared in Liège in the 19th century. The popular character, Tchantchès became over time the archetype of the goodman of Liege, witty and good-natured, wise and subtle, quick to find resolutions and fertile in resources, when he is depressed, he recovers with a joke that reveals the popular Walloon citizen, mocking and sentimental. It was therefore fitting to erect a monument to these two popular and significant symbols of the proud city...

Early 19th Century French Butcher Block Table Billot de Boucher
Located in Forney, TX
Take a step back in time with this authentic antique country French boucherie billot de boucher (butchershop butcher block)
A charming early example, circa 1810, with beautifully aged heavily worn patina, full of antique character and charm, rustic warmth, and rich historical depth!
Created in Provincial France in the early 19th century, this culinary icon exudes history and craftsmanship, hand-crafted of mixed woods including maple and oak, quality solid wood construction with visible pegged mortise and dovetail joinery that adds to the interest, having a shaped backsplash with convenient tool slot for storing utensils, meat cleavers, and knives.
Featuring a thick heavy-duty contoured end-grain work surface with attractive worn smooth dark rich distressed patina, authentic wear, knife marks, and uneven organic form acquired from generations of cutting, chopping, carving, typical industrial knife work and butchery. Banded with large brass corner brackets, the rectangular butcher block sits over a paneled base stand fitted with a single deep spacious drawer, affixed with the original oversized brass ring pull, ideal for convenient knife storage and easy access, over a scalloped apron, rising on chunky turned legs.
Includes a later stag antler handled sharpening rod and two rustic antique wooden handle...

1940s Pair of Early Charles Eames for Herman Miller LCW Lounge Chairs in Oak
Located in Philadelphia, PA
Designed in the late 1940s by Charles Eames, this chair has cemented itself in Mid-Century Design like very few other pieces. Early models like this are difficult to come by and are very rarely in such good condition, as many have been worked on in some way or another before their value shot up. These chairs feature a super sleek design of steam-bent plywood, an incredibly innovative technique pioneered by Herman Miller in collaboration with the Eames's and manufacturing firm Evans. The large seat and back are mounted to a molded plywood base with rubber shock mounts, another Eames staple. This allows them to have excellent contrast through spacing, which gives them an excellent stance, almost insect-like. Both are early chairs with the correct screw configurations beneath.
This pair features all original hardware, finish, and shock mounts. Very few blemishes, and those that exist are minimal, barely visible even in our high-res pictures.
At this time, we have two early pairs, as seen in in photos. We also have another single early model, and two extremely rare pre-production chairs with the accompanying molded plywood coffee table...

Set of 20 Fully Restored Egon Eiermann Folding Chairs in Beech and Plywood, 1952
Located in Uithoorn, NL
These folding chairs, model SE18, were designed in 1952 by German architect Egon Eiermann for Wilde & Spieth. Its frame is made from beech wood whereas the seat and backrest are made from molded plywood with beech veneer. The chair is now on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in their permanent modern art collection and it was shown at the World Exhibition Brussels in 1958.
Egon Eierman was one of Germany's most significant architects in the second half of the 20th century. Alongside designing significant modernist buildings, he also designed various items of furniture, in particular seating, that are now true design classics.
These chairs are 70 years old and still in perfect condition because they were fully restored by a professional who dedicated a lot of time and energy to fix the veneer. The result is a splendid set of folding chairs...
