3 Gaetano Pesce Resin Invitations from 3 Hot Spots: NY, LA & Knokke Zoute

About the Item

Gaetano Pesce has many exhibitions and for nearly every one, he has made a resin invitation, some quite simple, some very complex. Every one has a hole at the top so they can be displayed on a wall without damage. This is because he regards his invitations as artwork and expects they will have a life of their own. This set of three crosses chronological boundaries as well as geographic. Two of the three are absolutely current: Feb 2023 at Future Perfect in LA and May 2023 at Galerie 56 in New York City. The third is from 1993 for a gallery in Knokke Soute, Belgium. We think this group covers a lot of bases. They're also a little dark which is why the photos we've included show first a plain view and secondly the piece backlit. The individual dimensions are: Belgium 9" x 4.5", LA 5"x 6", and NY 5.5" x 7".

  • Unique Piece--Maarten Baas Burned Ikea Chair from Where There's Smoke Exhibition
    By Maarten Baas
    Located in Hamden, CT
Maarten Baas (1978) is a Dutch designer and a graduate of the famed Design Academy Eindhoven (2002). He is of the generation that followed immediately after the breakthrough 1993 landmark exhibition in Milan - Droog Design.- an assemblage of work produced by independent Dutch design studios working throughout the Netherlands. Addressing mostly ordinary domestic articles so intelligently and aesthetically re-thought and re=worked. that they reverberated throughout all of Art and Design, Maarten Baas was influenced greatly by the fresh and imaginative free-thinking which was taught at the school. Today Baas is considered one of the most influential designers working across multiple disciplines, deviating from conventional art processes while working with conventional art materials such as clay, metal, wood, and video. Baas is known for his conceptual, metaphorical, and most often amusing results which trigger the viewer to reconsider their own ambivalence toward the material world. This chair was commissioned by MOSS gallery in New York in 2004 and was offered as part of a solo exhibition called Where There's Smoke...
