About the Item
This late 19th-century Vienna porcelain charger beautifully illustrates a pivotal scene from Shakespeare's "Othello," depicting Othello addressing the Duke and Senate to justify his marriage to Desdemona. The vibrant colors and intricate detailing capture the drama of the moment, showcasing Othello’s noble stance amidst a gathering of intrigued figures. Surrounding him are richly dressed senators and attendants, each contributing to the scene's emotional weight. The ornate gold and cobalt blue border enhances the elegance of the piece, reflecting the opulence of Viennese porcelain craftsmanship. This charger serves as both a decorative object and a narrative expression of love and conflict.
