About the Item

Regal set of twenty-four steel engravings of English Hunt Scenes by Richard Blome (1635-1705) framed in a pair of three panel mahogany Regency Screens, 17th century. The etchings are from "BLOME, Richard (1635-1705): The Gentlemans Recreation. ... An Encyclopedia of the Arts and Sciences ... [and] Horsemanship, Hawking, Hunting, Fowling, Fishing and Agriculture. With a Short Treatise of Cock-Fighting. London: S. Roycroft for R. Blome, 1686". Twenty-three of the twenty-four hunt engravings have aristocratic family crest / coat of arms with the Nobleman's name. The English engravings consist of hunting scenes of fowling, netting, shooting, archery, trapping, hawking and fox hunting. This rare collection of hunting engravings are framed in finely made three panel mahogany screens with each Engraving being framed with a craved gilt boarder. Each screen has four hunting engravings above an upholstery panel (the fabric can be changed to match your décor) and finished in tapered spade feet. The Regency screen is late 18th century.
