About the Item

Michael Keane (b.1948 - 2015), oil on canvas signed lower right featuring a boat at anchor in a harbor. Because of the timeless beauty of his work, Michael Keane is one of the most sought after marine artists in the world today. His solo shows on Nantucket continue to completely sell out year after year and there is a waiting list for any of his original new works. His superb pieces of art are not only known for their elegance in design and their beautiful, rich hues, but also for their technical accuracy. Some of the scenes are imbued with a luminous serenity that seems to transcend time and space; others portray the excitement, majesty and grandeur of yachting history, and put us in touch with the eternal relationship of humanity to the sea. Mr. Keane and his work have been featured in Yachting, Motorboating & Sailing, U.S. Art, Sea Classics, Cape Cod Life and various other publications.
