Carl Einar Forseth (1892–1988) "ARCHITECT" painting on board, Sweden 1915

About the Item

"Arkitktur" is a mixed media painting on a panel by Swedish artist Carl Einar Andreas Forseth (1892–1988). It depicts a scene with three craftsmen (builders) in an arched structure with a garden in the background. The figure to the left wears a robe and is holding a scroll in his right hand which perhaps are plans for the building. It is believed that this figure is a self-portrait of Forseth. The scene is contained within one of the structures’ arches. Sighed at the top right “Forseth 15”. Original oak frame with gilt edge. Einar Forseth most important public work are his mosaics in the Golden Hall in Stockholm City Hall which were completed in 1923. Dimensions: 45” x 46”, depth. 2.5”
