Eduardo Miguel Abela Torras surrealist Oil on Canvas

About the Item

This painting appears to be in a fantastical surrealism or whimsical fantasy style. The artwork features an imaginative, dreamlike cityscape with intricate architectural details, organic forms, and a sense of movement. The composition resembles a whale with surreal elements, such as the ostrich figure on the right. The use of dark blues and golds, along with highly detailed textures and patterns, gives the piece a mystical, otherworldly feel. This style is reminiscent of artists like even Jacek Yerka, who blend surrealism with fantastical storytelling. Eduardo Miguel Abela Torras was born in 1963. He was a draftsman, painter, sculptor and engraver and the grandson of prominent and important Cuban artist Eduardo Abela. In 1991, Torras graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts San Alejandro in Havana. He is a member of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, the Experimental Workshop of Graphic and Comedians Association of Cuba.
