Important Circle Esteban Murillo "The Virgin and Child"

About the Item

Important Circolo Esteban Murillo "The Virgin and Child" oil on canvas Provenance: Private, Monte Carlo 150cm x 105cm Murillo received several commissions for paintings featuring Virgins accompanied by the Child Jesus, which is why we can see this type of painting in many museums. This one comes from a private family in Monte Carlo. There were serious doubts about the artist behind this painting, so we prefer to confirm it as "Circolo de Murillo" from the 17th century. Bartolomé Esteban Pérez Murillo (Seville, January 1, 1618 - Cádiz, April 3, 1682) was a Spanish painter. Along with Diego Velázquez, Francisco de Zurbarán, and José de Ribera, he is one of the most representative figures of Spanish Baroque painting of the Golden Age. Although much of his activity focused on the creation of religious themes, he remains especially famous for his genre scenes depicting women and, especially, children of the working class.
