About the Item
Australian born Leon Holmes is an award-winning artist and lecturer. Born and raised in Perth, Western Australia, Holmes gained experience as a printmaker, graphic designer, art director, illustrator, and photographer before becoming a full-time artist. He is known for advocating plein air (open air) painting, stating that in order “to capture the true light, the true color, you need to be immersed in the scene, and to become part of it.” His paintings capture the diversity of the Australian landscape in vivid colors and emphasize natural light.
