Lu Peng Colorful Acrylic Monumental Pop Art Painting Titled Floating

About the Item

This large and colorful acrylic painting by the noted artist and painter Lu Peng is titled "Floating" and was created in 1996. It is 72" W x 72 L". Lu Peng was born in 1967 in Beijing China. He is the director of the Institutions of China Art and Associate Professor. Lu Peng is a highly educated and internationally represented and collected artist. He was awarded a PHD in 1982 in critical theory. This painting was part of a series of pop art work developed in 1996. The work is a new wave of expressive change in the world of contemporary art in China. It is about the changes and support of the breakdown of the political scene with dynamic imagery. This is an early depiction of the ideas of people considering the old world and searching new ground. The looming large background female nude figure represents Mother China attempting, seeking or looking for a different life. The characters, subjects, symbols and airplanes are floating away. There is the element of the little red book that represents the sayings of Mao. This is a mesmerizing work in a very frontal expression. This belongs to a private collector who acquired it in Beijing in 2000. It is signed in the middle front off to the right hand side in Chinese characters that have a drip form as part of the design. It says Made by Lu Peng. Very provocative. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOW ON SALE FOR HOLIDAY 2024.
