Painting of a so-called "NAIVE ART"

Franz Klekawka painted from the late 1950s to the late 1980s. During this time he made a name for himself as a naïve painter far beyond regional and even national borders.
Franz Klekawka (1925 – 2001) came from a typical working-class family in the Ruhr area. His father came to Dortmund from Galicia immediately after the First World War. Franz grew up in a colliery colony. From 1955 to 1982 he was part of the workforce at Hoesch AG and worked as a fitter at the Westfalenhütte.
