New York City Central Park Autumn Painting Robert Lebron, 1928-2013

Wonderful painterly, thickly impastoed oil painting of a New York street with Paint store fascade and black parked car. A riot of color and noise packed into a medium sized canvas. By renowned plein air painter Ken McIndoe.

Set in carved gilt wood frames and signed in the lower right and left corner by american artist Robert Lebron, each mid-century art work is painted on canvas and depicts a typical Parisian scene in the style of Edouard Cortes or Galien Laloue. One scene depicts the Place de la Madeleine and the other Place de la Paix with the Opera in the background. Both paintings are in excellent condition with rich and vivid colors. Robert Lebron (1928-2013) was an American impressionist artist. He was born in New York City, where he attended New York City's High School of Music and Arts. He also went on to study at the Art's Students' League for five years. Lebron developed his own personal technique after several extensive stays in Europe, relying on the use of a palette knife rather than brushes. Lebron has painted in Europe, particularly London and Paris, in Italy and Spain, in Canada and Mexico. He won such awards as the Forbes Magazine Award (travel grant), and he has had one-man shows at the Galeria Studio in Madrid and in New Jersey, Connecticut, Illinois and in his home city ( NYC). Most of his paintings feature favorite characters from his childhood including a tiny dog present in most of his paintings, inspired by the comic strip Dickie Dare. Final costume design drawing by Jose Varona for the New York City Opera's 1967 production of Le Coq d'Or (The Golden Cockerel). This design is for the title character. The drawing is ink, watercolor and gouache. Two other designs for this opera are in the collection of the McNay Museum in San Antonio, TX. Sight measurement is 19 1/4 x 14 1/8 inches. Jose Varona American was born 1930 in Argentina. He began his art career in the 1950's and later became a renowned international costume designer mostly with opera and dance productions.
