About the Item

An exceptional, signed and original painting by Nicola L., produced for the artist's first solo exhibition at Galerie Boualkia in France in 1965. A wonderful modernist painting which literally jumps off of the paper, full of movement and playfulness. Nicola L., initially associated with Pop Art and French Nouveau Realisme, evolved in the practice beyond painting in 1964. Inspired by a meeting with Alberto Greco , Nicola L. famously claimed to have burned her painting works, though a small handful apparently survived. This piece show age consistent wear with foxing, water stain to bottom left corner, small partial tears to the top edge and center, and some areas of scuffing and general wear. There are small pin holes at the top two corners. In our opinion, the wear really adds to the charm of the piece and shows it's 60 some years of life. The painting has been stunningly floated in a beautiful solid wood frame with off-white backing, and protective UV glass. It is ready to hang. This marvelous painting is a truly special investment piece which is sure to increase in value over the years.
