Portrait of 'A Fisherman with his Pipe' in oil on canvas, within a finely moulded giltwood frame. The painting is signed on the lower left hand side – possibly by an artist named Pleney. This wonderful painting is full of character, its subject pensive yet relaxed in his scarlet smock and navy hat as he enjoys his pipe. The gleaming giltwood frame is in excellent condition, with a simple notched design on its interior edge, and a more elaborate undulating and floral carved outer section.
