About the Item

Beautiful oil on canvas entitled "Halt of hunters" Flemish school, attributed to a follower of KAREL VAN FALENS (Antwerp 1683 - Paris 1733). Period : 19th century Dimensions : H :70 x W :61,5cm This genre scene refers to the works of the Flemish schools where the art of representation and naturalism were essential points in each school until the end. The frame has been entirely restored with gold leaf by the BAYOUDH HENDA workshops (Paris-Ile de France) where the know-how of our craftsmen concerned with the preservation of our beautiful heritage, in the rules of art has been once again highlighted. KAREL VAN FALENS specialised in scenes of hunters and cavalry camps. Many of his compositions base their harmony, pictorial details, bright and vibrant colours and texture on the works of the Dutch battle and horse painter Philips Wouwerman. We have here a very beautiful and talented work of the Flemish school, respecting in every respect these codes, in the purest tradition of the Flemish primitives, these painters of the 15th and 16th centuries in the Southern Netherlands (now Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Nord-Pas-De-Calais). These painters left their mark on the history of art by the quality of their work and the mixture of medieval traditionalism and the idealism of the Italian Renaissance. In addition, oil painting is said to have originated in this region, in particular thanks to Jan Van Eyck, the best known of the Flemish primitives. Beyond the quality of their material, it is above all in the way they are used that this magnificence is achieved. Works by Flemish masters can still be admired in many countries. The best art museums in the world, including the Louvre in Paris, the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Brussels, the Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp, and the Gemaldegalerie, SMPK in Berlin.
