Fine 19th century English oil painting on canvas, within the original ornate giltwood frame. Depicting foggy mountain landscape with a forest and stream with waterfalls. Circle of James Stark (1794-1859) Signed lower right: J. Stark Dimensions Framed: 43.5" x 31" Canvas: 23" x 35.5" James Stark (19 November 1794 – 24 March 1859) was an English landscape painter. A leading member of the Norwich School of painters, he was elected vice-president of the Norwich Society of Artists in 1828 and became their president in 1829. He had wealthy patrons and was consistently praised by the Norfolk press for his successful London career.
