About the Item
Original mid-century abstract oil painting by Clay Walker, circa 1957. The piece is in very good vintage condition and is presented in a black frame with cream mat; the overall dimensions of the piece are 33.5" x 27.5" and the image is 27" x 21".
The painting is much more impressive in person and the pictures do not do it justice! #2252
Clay Walker, born in 1924 in Kentucky. Walker exhibited with Picasso, Warhol, Rauschenberg, etc.; he has shown in over 200 US and international exhibitions and he has been honored with numerous major awards. As a teacher, all throughout his adult life, he motivated his students to master the basic art techniques then go beyond the traditional boundaries of creativity.
Clay became the director of the San Antonio Art Institute, Texas. In 1963, he moved to California, eventually settling in Escondido in 1968. It was here that Clay designed and built his final house and art studio. This was the beginning of his reclusive period. He spent the majority of his time working in the studio, with family, and playing an occasional game of golf. Clay Walker died in March 2008.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. There are some minor wrinkles to the paper where it must have been rolled up. They are very hard to see and almost look like part of the texture of the paint. You really have to look from a very close distance and at the correct angle to see them.
