Charming and atmospheric, this pair of antique winter landscapes was painted circa 1880 and captures the quiet poetry of rural life. Signed “Carlier” in the lower corners, each oil on panel composition features a solitary female figure making her way through a serene snow-covered setting—one walking past a rustic stone cottage under bare-limbed trees, the other traversing a quiet woodland path beneath a pale winter sky. The artist’s restrained palette of greys, whites, and ochres enhances the tranquil, nostalgic mood of both scenes.
