Set of 2 Orientalist Painting, 19th Century

About the Item

This is a highly decorative pair of Orientalist oil-on-board paintings that date to the late 19th century. Although the paintings are not signed, they appear to be painted by the same artist in a semi-impressionistic plein air style. Both paintings detail scenes of desert life. The gold leafed frames appear to be original to the paintings and are in very good condition. The paintings are sold as a group, having been together for almost 150 years. **A third similar painting has been sold.

The putti is well-framed in a French a gold leafed neoclassical-style. Considering the quality of this painting, and although not signed, the painting was most probably painted by a recognized Italian 18th century artist.
