Lee Reynolds Burr (1936–2017) opened his Vanguard Studios in Beverly Hills, California, in 1964 to make oil paintings an attainable decoration for any American household. With seascapes, nautical scenes, still lifes, bullfights, cowboys, pastoral views, hot-air balloons, horse races and abstractions, there was a Vanguard Studios creation to match any taste and interior.
Born in Los Angeles, Burr studied art at the University of Southern California. After graduating and a stint in the U.S. Army, he worked in a local studio as a painter before becoming a home decor entrepreneur with financial support from his mother.

A large and stunning contemporary abstract painting by celebrated Australian Aboriginal artist Naata Nungurrayi (1932-2021), stretched and ready for display. A rare masterpiece of the museum quality dating from the peak of the artist's creative output in 2003. The canvas is singular in both the impressive size and tine quality, and it comes with full provenance and step by step photos (100 in total) recording the creation of this significant piece of work.
The artist used fine dots as the sole element to compose a complex dreamtime landscape where Women's Ceremony took place in her ancestral time. The place is located at Marrapinti and its surrounds, where many water soakage holes were located. Dots in brilliant shifting and contrasting colors form ceremonial Tingari symbols performed by the women, black crawling tracks that may be associated with a site called Karilywarra (two carpet snakes) and mesmerizing Tali (sandhill) movements surrounding the canvas. The work is of the signature style of the artist, singular and easily recognizable. The fine quality of this work is exemplary.

The painting comes with a COA letter and an artist biograph issued by Yanda Aboriginal Art and a presentation album with 100 photos that documented the entire process of the creation of this large work of art. The right part of the painting depicts a more sparse and dry vegetation, painted in the chromatic tones of ocher, inside of which there are dead plant, dry branches and a smaller number of figures on the rugged mountain. The iconographic inspiration of this wooded representation seems to be in the large trunk of the withered conifer in a central position, which represents a dead tree, as a? reminder of the transience of everything in life, whose phases are summarized in the two mountainous coasts. In the background a village painted in light and soft blue colors, in stark contrast to the previous scene, seems to reassure and project us into a future season.
