Featured are the New Holland Dog (De Nieuw-Hollandische hond), commonly associated with the Australian dingo, the Shepherd Dog (De Herders Hond), the Drive Hound (De Drijfbrak), and the Spitz Dog (De Keeshond). Originally published in *De Zoogdieren: afgebeeld en in hunne levenswijze geschetst*, this illustration captures the diversity of canine forms and their distinct roles in human society and nature. The New Holland Dog refers to the dingo, a wild canine native to Australia that has played a significant role in indigenous culture for thousands of years. The Shepherd Dog, a predecessor of modern herding breeds, was used to guard and guide livestock across Europe.
