Antique print, titled: 'Histoire Sainte. - Ancien Testament. Le Deluge.' - This plate shows a scene from the Old Testament; the deluge. From a Rare set of 60 plates showing scenes from the Old Testament of the Catholic Bible, from the creation of Adam and Eve, to the persecution of the Maccabees. Mostly from the books of Genesis, Exodus, Judges, Samuel and Kings, but also from Job, Jonah, Tobias, Esther, Judith, Daniel and Ezechial. Published in Paris: Dezobry et E. Magdeleine (Lithographie Becquet freres) c. 1840. Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Henry Jean Becquet' after an anonymous artist. Made by 'Henry Jean Becquet' after an anonymous artist. Henry Jean Becquet (1812-1855) was a French lithographer. Condition: Good, given age. Light foxing, mainly visible in the margins and on verso. The roof of the ark with some remains of a tissue guard (?) attached to the image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
